Bacne, Be Gone

It’s summertime and we’re feeling fine. We’re ready to get outside and show some skin after that long, cold winter. But some of us aren’t so lucky. In fact, some people don’t love summer because it means continuing to bundle up even though the weather outside is hot and humid! Why so self-conscious? One word: bacne. That stubborn acne that refuses to move from your back no matter what you do. Keep reading for some tips to finally rid yourself of the dreaded bacne–and the layers you’re hiding under.

Scrub softly.

If you’re not exfoliating, you’re not helping your skin release the toxins and dirt that get trapped in its pores. But don’t do too much or you might make it worse. Invest in a soft scrubbing loofah or wash mitt to gently exfoliate the skin on your back once or twice a week.

Off my back.

So many factors influence bacne, so keeping them all away might be a little challenging. Get into the habit of putting long hair up whenever possible, so oils and hair product doesn’t slid onto the skin and sink into pores.

Switch up the suds.

You might be reacting to something in your shampoo. As you rinse out shampoo in the shower, where does it seem to go? Right down your back before it slips down the drain. Switch up your shampoo to something more gentle, or even try a dandruff shampoo (that contains antibacterial properties).

See a pro.

If you’ve tried these before, or experience other forms of acne and know that your bacne just isn’t going to budge from these fixes, it’s probably time to call in the big guns. Come see us and we can talk to you about what we would recommend to get your self-esteem up and your back out for the world to see.
