First time dermal filler users are so different. Some people are easy-going and confident. They sit down and seem relaxed as we go about injecting their fillers. Other people are just the opposite! Some patients come in with a list of questions regarding every aspect of dermal fillers. We get a good refresh on everything we know about them! Regardless of which type you are, there are some things you should know about dermal fillers.
Two of the most popular fillers are Hyaluronic Acid and Calcium Hydroxylapatite.
Calcium Hydroxylapatite works under the skin by increasing collagen, which lifts and plumps the skin. Calcium Hydroxylapatite fillers are often used to increase volume in the cheeks, as it adds a lovely lift to the skin. This filler can last from one year to a year and a half.
Poly-L- lactic acid fillers also stimulate collagen production to help restore a plump, youthful look to your face. This filler requires time up-front, and many patients require three to four separate injections, around four weeks apart. Results can last more than two years, which makes it totally worth it
Hyaluronic acid fillers also can be used to add volume to cheeks, lips, and other parts of the face. They’re successfully used to help diminish smile lines and other wrinkles in the face, too. Many filler brands use Hyaluronic acid, and how long they last will depend on which you select and how your body reacts to them. Generally, you can expect your results to last from six months to two years.
How often will I need to come back?
In short, a few things will affect your fillers, like what kind you choose to get and where you have them injected. We can help you determine how often to come back for your appointments.

Types of Fillers
Though Botox isn’t a filler, we love Botox and have to include it in this list. Botox is one of the most popular treatments across the US because it offers some of the best results with minimal downtime. If deep wrinkles and frown lines bother you, then Botox is a great option to consider.
This is a very popular filler because it leaves you with really natural-looking results. If you’re looking for a little more volume, it’s a great product. Additionally, if you’re looking to smooth out wrinkles, then Juvederm is a great filler.
Moreover, Juvederm is often used to plump lips, so this filler is a multi-tasker that leaves you with great results all around.
If you’re concerned about nasolabial folds (the lines that move from your nose to your mouth) then Restylane a great fit. This filler is a little more firm than Juvederm, so it may be better suited to harder areas of the face (like the chin or cheeks) for plumping.

We all know how the sun can prematurely age us, so we use sunscreen to protect our faces from UV rays every day. And when we notice age spots or wrinkles, we know what treatments will help us get that youthful look back. When it comes to our hands, we are far less concerned. But why? Our hands are almost constantly working, and they see the sun as much (if not more) than our faces. They truly can take a beating. Thankfully, there are ways we can help turn back the hands of time–on our own hands.
If you’re unhappy with the state of your hands, keep reading.
Fillers for the hands
Yes, you can use dermal fillers on the hands. This safe, effective treatment has been used on our faces for years, so it makes sense to put them to work on other parts of our bodies that need a little more volume.
Hand rejuvenation using autologous fat, collagen, hyaluronic acid, calcium hydroxylapatite or poly-L-lactic acid might all be considered by your physician, depending on the specific results you’re looking for.
How long will results last?
Many fillers can be administered in a short appointment, even as short as thirty minutes. Imagine leaving work for lunch and coming back with more youthful hands. There’s almost no downtime associated with fillers, so you can keep using your hands that same day. There may be some minimal massage required on your part for the first few days after your treatment, to smooth out the fillers and make sure they are settling in correctly. Your physician will advise you on the best methods to keep your results as long as possible. Keep in mind that hands move a lot, so results may not last as long as fillers administered in more stationary parts of the body.

Bellafill treatmentis a facial filler meant to treat smile lines and certain types of acne scars. While there are many dermal fillers on the market that treat fine lines and wrinkles, the results are temporary and require follow-up treatments to maintain results. Bellafill is different. It contains ingredients that add instant volume that lasts. What’s more, Bellafill is the only FDA-approved dermal filler on the market for treating acne scars and the most effective and long-term dermal filler currently available. Made with a combination of two distinct components (bovine collagen and PMMA microspheres), Bellafill has the ability to support your body’s collagen production over time.
How Bellafill® Works Bellafill treatment is a two-part process. The bovine collagen initially provides volume while smoothing out scars, and then the PMMA microspheres (a proven substance that has been used in medical implants for years) stimulate the body to produce more collagen gradually over time, essentially laying the foundation for long-term smoothness.
The Bellafill® Procedure Bellafill is injected with a tiny needle to make injections as inconspicuous and comfortable as possible. Your doctor may provide you with a topical anesthetic to relieve any discomfort, but because Bellafill already contains the numbing agent lidocaine, a topical treatment may not be necessary. The duration of the procedure depends on how many injections you have, but it only take a few minutes to administer the Bellafill. As with other injectable treatments, there are potential side effects including redness, bruising and swelling, which generally goes away within 24 hours. You will be able to see improved volume and fullness immediately following the procedure. The PMMA microspheres then get to work to create a foundation for your skin’s natural collagen, a process that will continue over the next several months. The bottom line: immediate results with long-lasting effects.

Do you wish you could just wave a magic wand and eliminate those lines and wrinkles you’ve started accumulating over the years? Who doesn’t? We all want to look like the best version of ourselves. But what may be stopping you from doing something about it is the idea that plastic surgery is the only option. Perhaps the thought of going under the knife may seem too aggressive at this stage of your life for simply smoothing out developing lines and wrinkles.
The good news is there are alternatives to traditional plastic surgery: Juvederm. A non-allergenic, dermal filler, Juvederm does wonders for correcting sagging skin and adding volume to your face. It can make you look younger and more refreshed in a subtle and pleasing way. What’s more, it can minimize the appearance of certain types of scars, including those brought on by acne.
Unlike more invasive cosmetic procedures, which require more recovery time, Juvederm® injections only take about 15 to 20 minutes to complete, meaning you can leave your doctor’s office immediately following the procedure and resume your normal activities by the next day.
Are You a Good Candidate for Juvederm? The best candidates for Juvederm have the following traits:
