What to expect from the procedure
While you are under general anesthesia, your doctor will make an incision in the depression between the buttocks. A pocket will then be made to insert the implants either underneath or on top of the gluteus maximus muscle. In some cases, liposuction is also done as a way to further enhance the final shape. The entire procedure typically lasts no more than two hours. After surgery, you can expect to feel some pain, soreness, swelling and numbness for the first few days.
Will my scars be noticeable?
Because the incisions are made in the depression between the buttocks, scars are very rarely obvious, and over time, they will fade and become hardly visible altogether.
What are the risks?
All operations pose some risks. With buttock implants, the most common complications may include infection and bleeding, although these generally do not happen very often.
How soon will I see results?
Some people tolerate surgery better than others, so the time frame for seeing results significantly depends on the patient, as well as the procedure. Your doctor will advise you to refrain from sitting until your sutures heal; instead, you will probably need to lie on your side or your stomach for the first week or so before being able to sit comfortably again. In general, the bruising and swelling from buttock implants will subside after a couple of weeks, and then you can likely expect to see results a few months after the procedure.
